Buchholz in der Nordheide: Holmer Mill
The heritage-protected Holmer watermill is located directly on the Seeve in the Bucholzer district of Holm in the North Heath.
The foundations date back to the 16th century. Members of the Geschichts- und Museumsvereins Buchholz und Umgebung e.V. (Buchholz and District History and Museum Association) have been lovingly renovating the building since 1977.
The undershot steel
water wheel was installed in 1981. Since then, the Mill has been put into
operation on milling days (every second Saturday of the month) and on German Milling Day. During these days, the Mill is open from 10:30 to 13:00 and
can be visited. It is possible to buy flour and bread from organic cereals.
In the cozy fireplace
room, visitors are then treated to lard and herb breads and coffee or tea.
On the upper floor of
the Mill, the Association organizes lectures, concerts, and art exhibitions at
irregular intervals.
Holmer Mill can be
rented for family celebrations or other occasions.
