HEIDE-EXPRESS - the heritage railway

Travel on historical trains from the 1950s from the salt city Lueneburg to the river Elbe and through the Lueneburg Heath. Enjoy a nostalgic stroll on rails with the HEIDE-EXPRESS past meadows, forests and idyllic towns.

The members of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verkehrsfreunde Lüneburg e.V. (AVL) operate the museum and tourist railway voluntary and with a lot of engagement.

Scheduled traffic on every Sunday from May to 3rd of October between Lueneburg and Bleckede "Bleckede Light Railway"
Moonshine dinner trains in October from Lueneburg
Saint Nicholas tours from Lueneburg, Winsen and Soltau
Christmas evening tours from Lueneburg
Themed rail excursions to alternating destinations on the widespread private rail network in the Lueneburg Heath

Additionally we travel the Lueneburg - Amelinghausen - Bispingen - Soltau route during summer holiday season on behalf of the Bispingen tourist information (Bispinger Heide-Express, runs on Wednesday, phone +49 5149 9879690)
