Jesteburg: Bossard Site of Arts
Bossard Site of Arts – a jewel in the Harburg district
In the North Heath, on the edge
of Jesteburg, Johann and Jutta Bossard created a unique total work of art
between 1911 and 1950 - the Bossard Site of Arts. It combines architecture,
sculpture, painting, arts and crafts, and garden art. The residential and
studio house in the Heimatschutzstil is artistically designed down to the
smallest detail.
In addition to the residential
building you can visit the brick expressionist temple of art, built in 1926. On
the three-hectare forest property, the artist couple has created an impressive
garden, with its tree temple, monastery garden, vegetable and fruit tree
gardens, and romantic avenues for a walk in a very special atmosphere.
In addition to the permanent
exhibition on the life and work of the Bossard, the New Studio shows top-class
special exhibitions. As a living museum, the Site of Arts offers visitors not
only activity days such as Museum Night or the "Gartenlust & Kunstvergnügen"
craft market, but also readings, lectures, concerts, and numerous creative
courses for adults and children.
The café in the courtyard invites
you to linger over coffee, homemade cakes, soups and other homemade snacks - in
the courtyard or by the warming fire, depending on the weather.
